Reduction to 2018-19 resident tuition and its impact on aid

The University of California Board of Regents recently approved reducing tuition by sixty dollars for the upcoming 2018-19 academic year (from $11,502 to $11,442).

As a result, State and University grant programs, which are tied to tuition levels, will be affected:

-Cal Grant fee awards will be decreased by sixty dollars from $12,630 to $12,570.

-Middle Class Scholarship awards will be reduced slightly (actual amounts still to be determined).

-University Grant awards may be reduced slightly.

Finally, to comply with state and federal financial aid program rules, some students will see their financial aid packages adjusted to reflect their revised awards.

Here is the news release regarding the UC Regents decision to reduce tuition.
