TEACH Grant

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant is an annual grant provided to students who plan to become teachers. They are provided by the federal government and are awarded to students who are enrolled in specific academic programs at participating schools and who have filed a FAFSA. There are additional requirements to retain the grant and prevent it from being converted into a loan.

WHO MAY APPLY

Students must:

  • be enrolled in an undergraduate, post-baccalaurate, or graduate level TEACH-Grant-eligible program at a school that participates in the TEACH Grant Program
  • either score above the 75th percentile on a standard admissions test or maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 by the end of each quarter

HOW TO APPLY

Students must:

  • complete a FAFSA
  • receive TEACH Grant counseling that explains the terms and conditions of the TEACH Grant service obligation; (counseling must be completed every year that the student receives the TEACH Grant)
  • sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve

AWARD AMOUNTS

  • Eligible students may annually receive up to $3,728 (for grants first disbursed on or after October 1, 2015, and before October 1, 2016)
  • Aggregate limit for undergraduate study is $16,000 and graduate study is $8,000

DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY

Up to four years of undergraduate eligibility and up to two years of graduate eligibility.
